Oven-Baked Sausages with Caramelised Onions

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat to 200°C (400°F).

Line a baking tray with foil for easy cleaning.

2. Prepare the Onions

  1. Place the sliced onions on the tray.

  2. Drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Toss to coat evenly.

3. Add the Sausages

Place the sausages on top of the onion mixture.

4. Bake

Bake for 25–30 minutes, turning the sausages halfway through to ensure even browning.

Cook until sausages are nicely caramelised and onions are golden and soft.

5. Serve

Serve hot with:

  • mashed potatoes

  • roasted potatoes

  • buttery rice

  • crusty bread

  • or as a filling for sausage sandwiches

Optional Glaze for Extra Shine & Flavour

Mix and brush on during the last 10 minutes:

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Helpful Tips

✔ Choose high-quality sausages — they make all the difference.
✔ Don’t overcrowd the tray; space allows proper caramelisation.
✔ Add sliced bell peppers for extra colour and sweetness.
✔ Leftovers make incredible breakfast hash the next day.
