Butter Cream Pecan Pound Cake

Ingredients
For the Cake:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup butter-flavored shortening (or substitute with ½ cup extra butter)
3 cups granulated sugar
5 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans, lightly toasted
For the Butter Cream Topping (optional but heavenly):

½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1–2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
